This is an old post, from a year ago. The things people do!
I sell a lot of new and used items at the store. One of the things I sell a lot of is tin signs, which come with a bar code to scan if you are so inclined to do that in your store. I personally don’t do the bar code scanner thing, as I am too cheap and redneck to get one.
Today I had a customer who bought one of the signs. He handed it to me, and I waved him off, saying he didn’t need to, I was preparing my square app on my phone to process his card. He tried handing it to me again, and I said, “No, sir, I don’t need it to ring you up,” and proceeded to turn my phone on. At this point the customer got really irritated with me, and stuck the sign out for me again, exclaiming “you need to scan the bar code on it.”
I said, “No, it’s okay I don’t scan them. I’m just figuring out your total here.” The customer got even more irritated, and started waving the sign at me, and said, in a very agitated voice, “You NEED to scan this bar code.” At this point, I was actually shocked (and it takes a lot to shock me). So, I thought about it for a second, and took the sign from him.
I turned on my phone’s flashlight, then proceeded to “scan” it, and handed it back to him. He looked at me suspiciously and said, “Did it Scan?” I told him yes, it was scanned. He asked me then “How come it didn’t make a beeping noise?” I was really kind of weirded out by this guy at this point, so I asked for the sign back, flipped the flashlight back on, and made a humming then beeping sound with my mouth while I scanned it. It was so obviously stupid that I thought he would just walk out. But he squinted his eyes a little bit, and said, “Please make sure you didn’t scan it twice, I don’t want to be charged twice for it.” Not a peep about the beeping noise I made though.
I assured him that since it was the ONLY item that I had scanned, and the ONLY item that he was buying, that the price was indeed correct. This seemed to satisfy him and he paid and left.
If you’ve ever worked in retail, you know that people actually lose their dang minds after Thanksgiving, until New Year’s. This year the real crazy stuff seems to have started early.
Lmbo!! Wow, people r, putting it lightly, weird.
